Earlier this year, I did a sermon series on the book of Jonah. It was a delightful exploration of Hebrew literature and how we can use the whole Bible to better understand one book (and vice-versa). This is a small excerpt from the last sermon in the series, looking at Jonah’s anger and God’s response.

This recording is offered as a sample of my work. I'll be posting samples from time to time as an easy way to share what I do.

We look at one of the strangest stories in the Bible and see how even Christians can become divided by confusion and politics. Fortunately, this strange story comes with hope.

This week, we see how stories can shape our view before we read a single word, and how Mark can teach us to read the crucifixion of Jesus in a new way.

This week, we look at Luke 15 and the prodigal son. We see how Jesus used this story then, and how the Holy Spirit can use this story now.

This is a special episode, an interruption to our series through Matthew. I felt challenged to speak with a less scholarly approach, to speak from my spirit, and this is what happened. 

This is the final sermon in our series on the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew. I know it's a little odd to post the last one first, but I wanted to make it available for anyone who missed it.

We conclude our series on 1 Thessalonians with Paul's advice for how we can face the future -- especially when the future seems scary or painful.

In this message, we take a look at Paul's instructions in 1 Thessalonians 4, and examine the picture and promise of the rapture.

This is something totally new: an unscripted recording where I respond to a question about how ordinary people can read the Bible in the midst of cultural pressure and textual confusion.

To examine this topic, I take a look at Matthew 19, where Jesus himself engages with a debate about divorce and Deuteronomy that was going on in the first century.
